[Hallicrafters] Re FPM-300 Crystals -

Hello All, 	
	
Why are the crystals for forty and eighty meters soldered into the FPM-300 and
sockets used for the 10, 15, and 20 meter bands?	
	
Is this 'normal' for the FPM-300 or was this apparent factory procedure changed
at some point in time?

Hi Duane,

I have a 300 and a 300 MK II. All the crystals are soldered in on both units. 
There are sockets for 3 of the optional 10 meter band rocks with only the 
28.45
to 29.05Mhz segment being supplied. That crystal is also soldered in. I have 
no idea why they did that, except maybe as an attempt to keep them from 
falling out when mobile or portable.
