Greetings All,

>From the triple towers of the HCI NCS studio, and the lily pad throne of that
mischievous amphibian Frogzilla, comes this better than the price of a gallon of
gas dropping fifty cents news:

Thanks to the generosity, humanity and Ham brotherhood oriented character of
HB9RS, Dr.
Max De Henseler, who video taped this one of a kind personal unscripted
interview with William Halligan, Sr. in November of 1983, I am delighted to
announce, it will be made available to all non-commercial interested parties in
the near future.

The original video has been transferred to a DVD which is currently making its
way from Switzerland to my QTH.

The ownership of, and rights to reproduce, said video have been transferred to
me, for historical preservation and distribution. This will be done under the
HCI: Hallicrafters Collectors International registered name.

Selected audio portions of the forty-five minute interview have now been
electronically 'cleaned up' by me to reduce background noise, tape hiss and so
forth. I hope to broadcast several two minute segments on air Sunday May 8th
during the HCI 20 Meter Net. Hopefully the propagation entities will be in a
cooperative mood! not to worry though, as if they are not, we will just keep
doing it until they are!

This is a very interesting look into areas of William Halligan's life that are
seldom ever mentioned. Such as his first job, how his military academy education
took an unexpected turn and how his unique skills came together to inspire the
Hallicrafters company. Asking a Priest about finding girls for a college dance,
well ... You will love the story!

He was born in south Boston, MA on December 8, 1898. The son of an Irish
Catholic who worked for his father, (Bill's grandfather), at a bait shop on
South Broadway in Boston,
MA. A truly heartwarming, sometimes amusing and always fascinating story here to
hear. We owe our gratitude to HB9RS, Dr. Max De Henseler for sharing it with the
Amateur
Radio community and world in general. It is absolutely spellbinding to hear
William Halligan, Sr., just short of his eighty-fifth birthday, talk about his
humble beginnings to becoming almost a household name familiar to all. Yet
through it all, never once did I detect the slightest hint of ego, rather a
humble giant who did it all and never lost himself in the process. The mark of a
truly great person, the mark of a real hero.

Once production and distribution plans are worked out they will be announced
here and on the HCI web site. Meanwhile, enjoy the tidbits I managed to sneak
into the Net!
