Charlie,
I received a communication from Dr. Max De Henseler earlier this date. Whatever
is done, I will be doing it with the full permission and cooperation of Dr.
Henseler.
First, the band was not bad today. There was no band! If you heard a band, I am
positive they were playing TAPS! "TAPS" = The Absence of Propagation Syndrome".
(LOL)
The band was so long today that at one point I actually worked myself via long
path! The skip point was fluctuating from west of Denver, CO back to Denver.
This made the CO relay station, K0EJF, Jerry, about crazy. It was so weird that
I could copy K0EJF 5/8 and he had no copy on me at all. Yet KC0SHU who is
located about six miles from the QTH of K0EJF had a solid copy on me!
The QSB was very sudden, taking signals from S8 down to not audible, sometimes
coming back up and most times not. This made a stable communication with most
stations not possible.
This made the segment of the interview with William Halligan, Sr. that I put on
the air very difficult to follow. Additionally, the reports I did receive on the
intelligibility were only fair at best. during this coming week I am going to do
some electronic noise reduction and attempt to enhance specific vocal
frequencies in an effort to eliminate as much of the background noise in the
original recording as possible. I will also try to feed the signal to the
transceiver via a a mixer with equalization capability to eliminate all noise
picked up by my desk mike.
However, no matter how much I can reduce the noise and improve the clarity, the
band conditions will need to be much better for listeners to hear it.
The audio portion of the interview will be made available. I can not say
precisely when or what the media will be just yet. Stay tuned for updates -

Would it be possible to make that recording available for others if we
covered the copying cost? I would have really liked to hear it.
East coast sigs weren't too good either. At least there wasn't any $#@*&
contest
going on
