I forwarded these emails to Ebay and Paypal and they were no help at all.
They even questioned me and asked if I thought they were spoofs.  In
addition, they just gave me a canned msg to not open any suspicious emails.

Same old stuff.  As I said before, if you think you are OK with either
service, then just dump the emails that ask for updated or other private
information.  Ebay or Paypal will not ask for this type of information from
you.  Besides, if it really is either service, it is better to let them go
unanswered and your account cancelled or suspended.  Better than the other
alternative.  You are really on your own on this.  Play it smart.

As an FYI, both paypal and ebay ask that any suspicious emails be
forwarded to their spoof departments:

spoof at paypal.com
spoof at ebay.com

I always forward these when I receive them, and always receive an
acknowledgement thank you reply from the "real" firm.
They do attempt to track these animals down by their IP address, which
is generally deciperable in the original spoof mailing.
