Do you live in Sedona, AZ by any chance?  You clearly have a solid 
background in New Age Electronics.  The newbie in NAE will often make 
the mistake of seeking perfection by eliminating all resistance.  He 
will revel in the perfection of total silence from his radio - until 
disturbed by the crackling sound and smoke.
