Actually, I am toying with the idea of using rainbow colors utilizing a
standard prism and sunlight.  The full light spectrum is projected onto the
specially treated surface of a resistor body.  The special coating on the
resistor body morphs the projected colors into permanence and you have a
fixed/variable resistor that can be any value you want.

The final value is determined by speaking to and directly touching the
resistor which through Vulcan mind melding, assumes your desired value
forever.
