[Hallicrafters] Varacs

Howdy Fellow Hallicrafterers:

Am considering purchasing a Variac so that I can bring up my HT37 slowly and 
let it cook for several hours.

Not sure what wattage I should be looking for but am interested in something 
that is enclosed with nothing exposed and can handle the HT37 power 
requirements.

Can these Variacs also be used while transmitting on the HT37???

Any variacs out there that will do the job???  Prices??
