Actually, the "audiophool" price on this particular new tube is MUCH 
less than the tariff on many NOS devices from other sources.  The 6V6 is 
one of those tubes that's reached "legendary" status in some iterations 
(y'know, the famed "RCA gray glass, charcoal black plate, amber base, 
unobtanium pin" sort of thing).

Of course, if the new tubes fail, then they're worthless at any price (?).

In real life, boatanchor use the "economy" model metal audio tubes work 
just as well as the "premium" types, new or vintage.  My experience is a 
confession to my theoretical gullibility.  It has passed and I'm all 
better now.
