[Hallicrafters] Remember HCI Saturday 40 Meter Net

Saturday July 16th join us for the HCI: Hallicrafters Collectors International,
forty meter Net. The pre-Net portion will commence at 12:30 PM EDT, (1630 UTC).
The Net proper will start at 1:00 PM EDT, (1700 UTC). The frequency will be
7.280 MHZ lsb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and sporadic burps of gas from
solar indigestion. 

Is a Coronal Mass Ejection the same as saying that Old Sol hurled? What does he
do to get that kind of serious gas to begin with? He must have a diet that would
burn the lips right off one of those legendary fire breathing Dragons! When he
can belch and scorch the dirty whitish yellow pond scum right off the shoreline
of Frogzilla's pond, you know he has got some punch in his personality! 	
	
I hope to hear some of you tomorrow if the propagation comes down in the 150
mile bounce point instead of hitting Cincinnati at about 315 miles. But when it
does skip along like that, all you east coast dudes need to get some fire in
your wires, as it is your chance to check on in! Ask old Mr. Antenna oriented
the wrong way, my friend Bill, K2WH! I worked him on twenty meters two weeks ago
off the back of the beam 5/9+20! I was afraid to turn the thing his way for fear
of either blowing his ears clean off or not hearing him at all. Bill and I could
not have had a better path, which ever way it was going, probably some kind of
trick ionosphere bank shot, if we planned it! So what is my point? Thought you
would never ask. Don't give up when you can not hear diddly squat at the start
of the Net, hang ten, be patient, triple up on the caffeine to stay awake
(disclaimer - drink caffeine containing beverages or eat solid foods at your own
risk!) and the band will change before you can count to eleven on your toes.	
	
Last Saturday I had the polarity switching between vertical and horizontal and
wishing I had dual diversity to compensate for it. i could lose a signal on the
double bazooka and change to the GAP Titan vertical and hear them, then back it
went the other way. So when you can not hear us, wait a few minutes and the band
is very apt to change and you may be able to join in. Hope to hear you tomorrow!
