Regarding my “Strange S-38” I should have stated the research that I
have done to determine which receiver type.

I looked at the excellent pictures on the “S-38 Guys” web site
http://www.thes38guy.com/Page_1x.html for the S-38 and the S-38A. I
think I read the every page at the site and looked at every picture.
What an excellent web site for Restoration and Safety.

My six tube S-38 layout does not look like any on his site.

I downloaded the Rider Schematics from http://www.nostalgiaair.org/,
the Hallicrafters Service Bulletin No 2 BAMA and looked for more
information from other web sites on the S-38 and the S-38A.

Like an S-38 it has six tubes and a shield on the CW Pitch control and
three red switches on the left front.

Unlike an S-38 the tube layout is different and it has an extra trimmer
like an S-38A tilted down in the center of the chassis.

The chassis is stamped 70-E867. The serial number is AB-198460. Under
the serial number the number 31A430 is printed.

Does someone have a story and schematic/layout for this radio?

I have some digital pictures of the radio if you want to see it.

Thanks,

N5IUT
Paul
