You have it right, Bill. Just follow the letter sequence as you route
the dial cord.

One thing I've had happen from time to time with these little sets is to
get my clockwise and counter-clockwise mixed up when winding around the
shaft that the tuning knob is attached to.  The end result is the dial
moving "backwards" as I turn the knob.  I suppose you can do it either
way, I just prefer to have my dial move to the right as I'm turning a
tuning knob clockwise.

Also, you can attach the slide rule dial pointer as the last step, once
you are happy with the tension.  I don't recommend gluing the pointer to
the string as you may wish to slide the pointer a bit one way or another
while doing the calibration.  On my S-38E, the dial calibration after
sliding the pointer a quarter inch was remarkably accurate.  All WWV
points and ham band edges are within an eighth of an inch of the printed
markers.  None of my other S-38's are that close!
