Nope not me. I did it for a command receiver in the 60's. worked fine.

Do you mean what is it that keeps them from slipping?

Get some rosin as used on the baseball mound. Get a little bit of alchhol 
(denatured) and mix in enough of the rosin till it won't dissolve any 
more.. then apply the stuff to the cord. Let  dry.  Done.
