[Hallicrafters] SX101A Problem

IF can slugs.
I hatem when they stick. Here's a neat trick if you destroy the slug and
your new slug is on the small side. (we are fixing a transformer with a
unobtainium slug i.e. won't screw into the old threads but fits sort of)
1. Drill out all of the slug very carefully.
2. Set up the bench alignment and find the sweet spot for the slug -
transformer and hold it right there.
3.Pour candle way into the cavity.
When the wax cools the slug will stay in place.
It may take all evening to do the three steps but it did save the band 4 rf
coil on a SX 100 I reworked last year.
The candle way holds the slug in place!
