[Hallicrafters] Re Black Beauties+ Progress of my S-76 refurb

One of the black beauties I just replaced had  a 1/8"  wide crack down the 
entire length.  Dont know when it happend  but  there it was.   
 
My S-76 dates back to about 1952. I am the second owner. 
 
Listening to it since I replaced about half the caps shows the  following:
 
1. audio is much more robust on AM.   
2. I now have loud spurious sigs every 200-300 khz  which  I think means I 
need to do a complete realignment again.  ( My previous  alignment attempts  
were partially successful but  several of the IFs  didnt seem t o respond very 
well.  I think theyll do better this  time.)
 
3. The Selectivity  Switch ( 6 position)  now   sounds much more effective 
and linear than before.
 
This is fun.  Even if the old eyesballs dont always work  right.
