[Hallicrafters] R-42 Reproducer questions

I've just purchased an SX-42 and need a speaker to mate with it. I'm
guessing an R-42 will be hard to locate ( though if anyone's got one for
sale, please let me know!), so I'm planning to adopt a substitute. This
leads me to a couple of questions:
Does the R-42 speaker have a 500 ohm voice coil or is a transformer
housed inside the cabinet?
Is the R-42 cabinet sealed? If it's sealed, does it have a bass port?
I owned an R-42 once, but it was about 40 years ago and I don't think I
ever peeked inside. I remember the cabinet being rather larger than the
8-inch driver inside would indicate (is it really an 8-incher?) and
wonder why, if not for acoustic purposes. I also remember the
"Communications / Hi-Fidelity" toggle switch. I'm guessing this
switched in a cap network to restrict the frequency response for voice
reception. So, I guess my basic question about the R-42 is-- what's in
there?
Thanks very much and 73,
Craig
