[Hallicrafters] HT-1E Handie Talkie

I just received an image from the owner of an HT-1E Village Radio handheld
transceiver.  The image clearly shows a red "Destruct" push button on the
top with the other controls.  There is also a label that says "Destruct"
next to the button.

It certainly looks original to me.  Checking Chuck's book, there is no
mention of a "Destruct" button on this radio.  Does anyone have any info on
this?  I can send the image to anyone wishing it.  It is probably the
strangest control I have ever seen on a radio.
