The problem with offering antenna advice is that each installation is
unique.
On top of the unique problem is each individual's perception of what
constitutes a good antenna.
Try this approach:
Define the requirements your antenna installation.
Multi-band or single band?
DX or local nets?
Contesting or ragchewing?
Top Band, HF or VHF?
Review your physical environment:
Big lot, small lot, indoor?
Trees available?
Ground quality (sand, clay, etc.)?
Utility lines?
Then, hit the books. Look for antenna designs that fit your requirements
and environmental restraints.
Remember that the book antennas are designed in an optimal environment.
Pick a few designs and using your property survey see if they will fit.
Try to visit antenna installations and see how others have solved similar
problems.
Build your choice and put it up.......if it works keep it, if not, back to
the drawing board.....be prepared to try a few designs.
