Hi Hank,
Antennas 101 or not, I have on my shelf (and have read the sections
on dipoles, baluns, inverted-vee, sloping dipole, etc.) Practical
Antenna Handbook by Carr, The ARRL Antenna Book, and several editions
of The ARRL Handbook. Mostly they give the theory and construction
considerations. What is more difficult to dig out is the practical
experience of hams with 10, 20, 30, 40 and more years of experience on
what works well and what not to bother about. The books are Antenna
101 (freshman course), but the experience is Antenna 501 (graduate
course). There are individuals with lots of electronics experience but
little ham experience and need to ask the 101 and 501 questions.
