[Hallicrafters] SX-100 S-meter inop.

Hi,
    The S-meter on the SX-100 I am working on for a friend shows no 
response (well maybe it wiggles just a little).  I get reception on all 
bands (with so-so sensitivity).  I've substituted V4 whose plate 
current drives the S-meter.  I've checked resistors (most anyway) and 
replaced all paper capacitors.  I'm using a "Copper Cap" S-S rectifier 
and the output voltage is a little low (253 v instead of 270 v per 
schematic).  Has anyone experienced low voltage with the Copper Caps?  
The S-meter itself works fine.
    I know it has been discussed in the forum in the past but would 
someone(s) review some of the places to look.  I could be overlooking 
something dumb.  Thanks.
