I recently purched an R-44 Reproducer.
The former owner, added a (ON/OFF) switch, where the "H" logo is suppose to
go and painted the whold thing a flat black out of a can. He should be hung!
Is it possible for someone to tell me what the color of the lettering, what
the labels say and where it is located. Switch lettering is white, says: HI
FIDELITY above the switch and COMMUNICATIONS below. I'm assuming light green
and white, Hallicrafters and Model R-44 are light green, switch lettering is
white. Additionally, what is the color of the cabinet and speaker grill? The
picture shows two colors. The speaker color is the standard Hallicrafters light
grey and the grille is dark gray like the SX-42 cabinet.
It has a transformer in it that I think is a power transformer. It is
engraved in a box SNC (Sancor?) and 6P736. Looks like he came up with something to
match but that is not the standard transformer. Speaker has a 500 Ohm input
as supplied, but I would be willing to bet that the original oval speaker was
actually 8 ohms with the attached transformer having a 500 Ohm input and 8 Ohm
output. Since many Hallicrafters receivers were supplied with only 500 Ohm
outputs they wanted the speaker to match so that supplied the 500 ohm transformer
as standard.
It there any such thing as a manual for this speaker?
I am supplying a scan of the label on the bottom as a .JPG attachment.
List subscribers will not be able to get it. If anyone wants one, please
