Hi Terry;
Try not to look at a diode detector as a rectifier. Look at it as a
mixer. When the carrier and both sidebands meet a non-linear device ( a
diode is about as non-linear as you can get) They mix together and you
get the classic 4 outputs from a mixer; the 2 inputs (carrier and
sidebands). the sum, which is around 1 mc for a 455kc IF, and the
difference, which is the audio causing the sidebands in the first place
at the transmitter. A lo-pass filter blocks the RF outputs and passes
only the audio. Think about it. MC&HNY.
