Hey Ron, take a chill pill.  I hope your joking, if not then go away.
Anyway, making a chassis shine is not a customization.  Customizing "to
build, fit, or alter according to individual specifications".

Nothing is being altered.  I would imagine you see repainting a cabinet as
"customizing".  Cleaning up the rust spots and overall dirt is in your view
"customizing".  Give me a break.

Now chrome plating the chassis is nice and a good idea, but too expensive.

Did it come from Hallicrafters with a "mirror finish"?

Is this about Restoring/Preserving vintage radios, or customizing them?

Why not chrome plate the chassis, metal flake the cabinet,
and rip out all those old tubes and stick in ICs while you're at it.
Maybe even dump that old dial and pointer and put in a digital display.
