[Hallicrafters] OT"Light and Timer

Good Afternoon,

Apologies in advance for a somewhat off-topic question.

I recently purchased a bundle of energy saving bulbs (fluorescent type) to
replace a number of incandescent ones in various lamps in the house
including the ham shack. Does anyone know why there is a caution to not use
these bulbs with electronic timers? I thought my
electronic/digital-readout timer merely tripped an internal relay to turn
on/off juice to the item being "timed" so the control is just like turning
on/off a light via the lamp switch.

BTW, these new bulbs can sure put out a lot of hash on the HF bands. Makes
one want to keep the shack lighting off. Better that way, anyway - can see
the nice tubes glowing.

Ollie.
