Hello to all on the list from a newby.
The last Hallicrafters I owned was an S-40a in the early 50's. Various equipment came and went over the years but no Hallies re-appeared on my shacks table. Something happened to change my interest and make those glow bottle boxes take a place again on the desk here in my humble shack. Side by side now, are a SX-101A & HT-32B. What happened? you may ask, well I went from volunteering at the ENSOR PARK and MUSEUM in Olathe, KS. to being the Site Director of this fine little museum honoring the life of Marshall H. Ensor, W9BSP, a notable educator in the local school system for 42 years whose main interests were teaching Manual Arts (including Amatuer Radio Licensing), and Amateur Radio operation from 1916 to 1970 when he became a SK. The only commercial receivers he ever used were several models made by Hallicrafters. Our radio club has restored a couple of them to operation and some of the guys are pretty much Hallicrafters advocates too. Anticipation for getting back
to where I started is a thrill and I even plan to build that 6AG7/ 807 breadboard rig from the 1952 Handbook again.
Here's my question for you more experienced friends. The HT-32B uses a 2 connector mike connection and the Astatic 200-S that I've come up with has a connector on its cord of 6 contacts maybe to allow the use of both the momentary as well as on/off talk switch. I would like to make use of the flip / press switch on the mike handle if practical. Any guiding lights out there with this experience?
By the way, since I've already plugged the Ensor Museum, see what he was all about that has earned a National Historic Site status by looking at: <W9BSP-W9UA.org>
Thanks in advance. 73 for your Christmas days too.
