[Hallicrafters] Cleaning dials

What I have done is to scan the dial, sometimes have
to scan one band at a time, and then work on it using
a graphics program.  Basically I redraw the scales and
put in new lettering and numbers using the original
scan as a template.  Sliderule types of dials are MUCH
easier to work on even if they are mounted on a round
drum.

Making new dials for equipment that use the flat round
kind (i.e. many of the Hallicrafters receivers,
Hammarlund receivers, etc.) are VERY difficult to make
using a graphics program.  Not impossible, but much
more difficult than the sliderule types.
