[Hallicrafters] SX-117 VFO Problems

I have a weird problem on an SX-117. 

The VFO drops out after about 150 kc of tuning range. I noticed this when I was attempting to align the receiver by going from the top to the bottom of the tuning range. 

Any suggestions? 

The HT-44 still has some spurs on 20/15/10 Meters. 80 & 40 M load fine but I lose all control with the drive control on the top three bands. The output meter pegs full scale, and I cannot control the rf output with the drive control at all. I have wetted down the tube sockets with deoxit, and I don't want to go inside that beastie and start turning slugs without isolating this problem. 80 & 40 M load up just fine and I have full control of the output with the drive control on these two bands. Help!
