[Hallicrafters] Receivers and such

I "broke" my wife in "properly" with mobile equipment.
When we were first married I had the Heathkit mobile
"twins", the Cheyenne and Comanche, in the front seat
of a 1961 Ford Falcon 4-door with a 40 meter center
loaded whip on the back. At the time I was a junior
at Georgia Tech and was working for the Motorola
Service Station in Atlanta.
Several months later, as I started my senior year, I
went to work directly for Motorola and got a
T43GGV-1130 (2 frequency) 25 watt highband (2 meters)
FM mobile. I took out the Heathkits and installed the
T43GGV in the trunk. Having that "little" control
head taking up just a "little bit" of room made my
wife VERY happy. Ever since then she has not
complained about having a radio in the car since
anything these days is MUCH smaller than the old
Heathkits. That was 40 years ago and she still wants
a transceiver in the car "just in case" something
happens. She is not interested in amateur radio but
she still wants the radio installed.

Oh, and I laughed embarrassingly loud at Ken's (K4XL)
description of that which captured our imagination,
AFTER radios. That resulted in "The Look" from the wife...
