Hi Folks,
I have recently had a silk screen made for Hallicrafters R-42 & R-46
speakers. I'm trying to master the technique of ink/paint application,
it's a lot different than doing T-shirts of fabric. I did grosses of T-
shirts back in the '70's, in my basement, this is much finer, and like
Charlie says, the ink is critical. Regular oil based paint can be
used, if it's thickened with the proper gel from an artist supply
place, but still is touchy. Regular ink comes in gallons, maybe
somewhere has quarts, I dunno, that should make it easier, but still
costly. In any case, it's very costly for a "one-off." Screen cost
$50-100 depending upon artwork, etc., I got mine for just under $50,
simple art, and a very helpful supplier.
When I'm done, I'll have an R-42 & R-46 for myself, and 1 each for
sale, but the price will be in the $125 range, for units that look very
close to original.
73,
Al, W8UT
