Tonight I went to a 50's themed restaurant. They have tons of different
soda flavors to mix and I asked the waitress what went well with
chocolate.
She said, "Chocolate? Ok, be right back."
This same enlightened individual heard the next table call her when
nobody said anything.
And then there was the feeling of living in an anachronism: "Leaving on
a Midnight Plane to Georgia" was playing in a 50's restaurant.
Last year there was the waitress who brought my family gathering their
meals, stopped and looked quizzically at me, and asked if I ordered
anything.
Before we sat down, my brother asked if I'd pretend not to be with them
so they'd get seated promptly and get their correct orders.
I live near Philthdelphia, PA, where you can make any word plural by
adding an apostrophe S. "Get your fish's here!" The plural of you is
youse. (the plural possessive is you's)
Don't even get me started on the last 42 days I spent dealing with a
certain backup software company's tech support department, which was
entirely based in India.
I swear to you that I spoke with Maria, Ken, Brad, Frank, and a few
others, none of whom were born on the same continent as me.
