I liked Jim's "pool of water" story.  I have been working for a 
Japanese Semiconductor Test Equipment maker now for over 21 years.  So 
such "reading between the lines" analysis of their labels and documents 
is now second nature.  My best was on early equipment where they called 
all the calibration potentiometers "Volume Controls".  It doesn't take 
much thinking to know where they got that from, hi hi.  The L and R 
swap was often seen in writting too.   Our diagnostic prinouts always 
had Linearity spelt Lineality.  Things are better now with better 
translators in Japan.  Plus, they have kicked butt worldwide with the 
qulaity of equipment produced during my time here.
