A number of years ago there was a very large Civil War
re-enactment scheduled (several thousand participants
were expected). Around 10,000 "flyers" were printed
up and mailed out describing the event.
Now, what the large headline on the pamphlet was
supposed to say included the words "largest black
powder event ever held". Unfortunately, the person
who typed the words into the computer, and "spell
checked" it, omitted a single letter. Also, no living
person ever checked the pamphlet since it had been
"spell checked" by the computer. That letter was a
single "d". Every one of the pamphlets went out with
the words "largest black POWER event ever held".
Needless to say there were a "lot" of people who were
"offended" by the pamphlet.
