[Hallicrafters] Question to SX-88 Gurus

While in the process of bringing #376 Run 2 back to life, I have discovered a change in the circuit that is not on the schematic. This was done at the factory and not a owner mod from the way the soilder connections and wire jacket look. 

Here it goes, 

C120 a 10uf 50v cap to the sensetivity control is not there. A 250uf 50v cap has been placed on the other side of the 10ohm R80 that goes to the sensetivity control. 

Does anyone know of this change as a facory modification? 

The 250uf has dried out and needs to be replaced, but I am wondering if this should be changed back to the the way the schematic shows the 10uf C120? 

A 250uf seems awfully large to place there.
