The lettering can be replaced by using dry transfer (rub on) letters.
You have to have a steady hand and prior to putting the new lettering
on, measure the exact locations of each word on a piece of paper. You
will also need to measure the height of the lettering. I believe it is
1/4" high. I use blue masking (painter tape) to keep the lines
straight. It leaves no residue. REMEMBER, YOU MUST MEASURE EACH WORDS
LOCATION
TO GET IT BACK TO ORIGINAL.
Go to this site for the lettering. They have black or white and an
Actual ham radio group with whole words for transfer.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] Power cord safety, renewing front panel
markings
I have an S40B, with original power cord setup, is there a way to
connect a
3 prong plug to prevent shock hazards? Also the unit has a lot of wear
on
the front panel markers (ie Bandspread, sensitivity etc.), is there any
way
to replace them or re letter them? Thanks. Paul VE6RTR
