Yup,  indeed no SX-88's  were in government service!  The SX-73 (military
R-274) was good enough for the government, it's good enough for me... I paid
$250 for one in mint condition!

Forget the SX-88, get an SX-73.

In 1954, an SX-88 cost $595.00, while an SX-73 cost $975.00.
(Both are 20 tube receivers).
