Please join us tonight, Wednesday March 3rd, for the HCI Global Glow Roundtable.
It will commence at or about 5:30 PM EST, (2230 UTC) and end at or about 8:00 PM
EST, (0100 UTC). The frequency will be 14.315 mHz usb +/- for key clicks, mike
splatter and the thunderous sound of January's snow sliding off my roof and
flattening the shrubs below! No loss, at least I won't have to prune them when
they are closer to the ground.

I will be testing a new piece of gear tonight, so stop by and give me some
signal reports. My voice still is not back to its normal melodious baritone, as
there is still this little nasal quality left over from the bilogical blight my
grandson so graciously shared with me.

It was good to visit with K3TKJ, Al Waller, this morning at the QTH and
congratulate his father who just became a licensed Ham! Always great to sit down
with Al and talk without an electronic interface of some kind in between too.
Especially just to talk 'non-business' stuff!

While we were testing equipment a problem with one wire antenna was discovered.
The 20 meter IAC double bazooka has an excellent SWR, but when more than 100
watts was applied Al noticed a problem on a meter. he went outside and checked
to see what could be going on. It turns out that this has been there for several
years, but me not being able to see the meters, it went undetected. I nevr check
the SWR while I have an amp operating.

The two down legs of the double bazooka both touch the tower on their way down
to the anchor points. When the amplifier was engaged we suspect some arcing
occured causing the amp to kick off line. The older gear used with this
particular antenna was not sensitive enough to detect the problem. It should
have been installed using a standoff at the outset, which I now know was not
done. Hence, when Spring has sprung, and the grass has riz, it will get fixed.

I hope to hear you tonight, I'll be there and listening!
