Often you can use the receiver itself. Inject the
first i.f. frequency (1650 KHz) or even a stable
signal at the actual received frequency. At least
this is better than using something that is not stable
at 50 KHz.
For getting rid of the 1650 KHz signals you can put a
"trap" in the receiver input. Just use an old
broadcast band "loopstick" and a variable capacitor.
Make a series circuit to ground and put in a shielded
box between the antenna and the input jack on the
receiver. Tune the variable capacitor to eliminate
the signal.
This should not have any noticeable effect on the
receiver except to tune out the broadcast band
interference.

Also----I hear a lot of ''birdies'',---- particularly
at night----which seem due to the fact that the 1st
IF,1650 kHz,now falls into the AM Broadcast Band.
