Hi Gary,
    I have a S-20R which looks very similar to your S-22R and I also 
have been pleasantly surprised with it's performance.  I suspect the 
receiver circuitry is pretty much the same in both as the tube 
complement is similar except for the power supply part and of course 
the frequency coverage.  Mine still needs working on (caps replaced, 
tubes checked, etc.).  A good receiver though.
