You can't be a "newbie" if you have already discovered which end of the iron
to hold!

In addition to asking advice from the list you might find the archives of
this group worth browsing. There are also other mailing lists such as
boatanchors, SWL, and NRC-AM that have good equipment and listening
information. Most of these have an archive so that you can catch-up in a
hurry.

Just found this list and figured it would be a great place to visit.
I am awaiting delivery of an S-120 in working order.

Looking for tips and info. I have worked on tube guitar amps, so I have
some minor skills.  The caps dry out, the tubes go, etc.


Looking forward to firing her up and doing some serious listening (and
only minor amounts of electrocution).  I find soldering a lot more
enjoyable since I stopped holding the hot end.

You have to love 50's guitar amps and 60's receivers sitting next to a
2003 computer.
