Fw: [Hallicrafters] Black Beauty replacements.

I have been using AES "no name" yellow caps in just about everything I
repair and restore and have never had a problem with them. There is nothing
wrong with the orange drops either. However, I like the axial leads on the
no name yellows and they cost less too. Either of these caps are light
years better then old paper or black beauty caps. I have never restored a
radio having black beauties where the black beauties were not bad and
leaking. I do use mostly 630 volt caps but I do keep some of the popular
values in 400 volts too as they cost less and there is no point in using a
630 volt unit when replacing a 200 volt cap when you are using a lot of caps
all the time. Sometimes a higher voltage cap will fit into a spot better
then a smaller new lower voltage cap as new caps of the same voltage are
made smaller. By using a 630 volt cap as a 200 volt replacement may make
the swap out easier as the size may be closer and it may be easier to use
the same ground point the original cap used.
