There was an earlier version of that set-up using the SX-100, HT-30 and an
HT-31 amplifier too. They called it an SR-500 *. There's a great picture
of it (with the author) in Max Henseler's book, "The Hallicrafters Story".
According to Max (who ought to know because he's sitting in front of it), it
came out in 1955 and sold for $1495.

The actual console looks like an off the shelf Bud desk/rack cabinet to me
with some specialized Hallicrafters trim. It made an very nice station
package for the time.

* The SR-500 designation was re-issued in 1965 as the"Tornado" transceiver.

one came up for sale on that internet auction site not long ago. But I think
the SR-1000 existed only in the photo studio -- and in the dreams of
then-lads like Bill and me.
