Does anyone have a good procedure for the problem of carrier balance of the
7360 modulator in the HT-32B. I have some old correspondence from Robert
Orwin, who had been the Technical Director for Hallicrafters, suggesting the
following:
"Use an old speaker or other permanent magnet to alter the magnet pattern of
the cover. To use the magnet, move it a circle above the SB generator with
the cover closed while observing balance. When a null is obtained, lift the
magnet straight up and away. The null will hold."
Using this method, Robert said that he could get <-50 db of the carrier. I
can get this kind of suppression with the cover up. As soon as I put the
cover down, the suppression is not as good. No amount of waving a magnet
over the SB generator seems to do any good.
Do others have this problem and is there a solution?
