[Hallicrafters] Dummy antenna for S40 alignment

Hey Bill, "Get Serious"......(HI)

As to "relevance", the word itself is self explanatory. How much trouble
is it worth to gain a few db? To me, a separate tuner in the Rx line isn't.
You could put a switched GaAsFET pre-amp at the antenna with the proper
matching etc., but would it be worth the trouble? The certainly IS
relevant if you're a moon-bouncer on 432 MHz, but that's not what we're
doing here.

I can only explain "serious operation" with a couple examples. I was
really serious when I worked WV6HAO ( California Novice call ) on 7173 at 4
AM in the morning as KN3ICH in 1959. I am NOT serious when I'm babbling
away in an Old Buzzard transmission on 3885, or rag-chewing with the locals
on two meter FM. In fact, I'm hardly ever "serious" when I'm on the
radio anymore. After all, it IS a hobby.

Sorry to be so confrontational Bill, but a good verbal joust is fun too.

73 and a very NON politically correct Merry Christmas and/or Happy Hanukah
to all,
Charlie k3ICH
