Hi,

Don't know if you are a member of the R-390 discussion group, but there is a
lot of information about using the inrush limiters in the R-390 archives.
It has been a big topic for discussion at various times. If you will go to
http://www.r-390a.net/Pearls/, you can find lots of information.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] In Rush Current limiters

Hello,

I have a question that I hope that some of the smart people on this forum
can help me with. I was reading about INRUSH current limiters. These sound
like the perfect solution to protecting tubes during turn on. They limit the
current during turn-on for a couple of seconds with a resistance of 120 ohms
and quickly drop to around 2 ohms.

They are small, look like a cap, and would be hard to tell it is under the
chassis. They are available in several models, that can handle the current
of tube receivers. I would assume that these inexpensive devices might
provide some help to helping the turn-on surge that tube sets have.

Any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

DW Holtman
