First thank to the great responses for the question that I asked on the LSB problem for a SX-100. I have ordered the parts to replace everything in the 2nd mixer sub-assembly, including the 300pF caps inside the T-9 can.
On to the SX-101 that I'm now working on. If I turn it on in the LSB mode on the Response knob, it comes on and works great. As soon as I turn it to USB, it mutes and has no audio output on USB. However, If I turn it on two clicks to the USB position, it works on the USB position. If I change it to LSB, then back to USB, the USB does not work. I hope that this makes sense. It is kind of hard to explain.
I think that I have cleaned the response rotary switch. It is hard to clean. It is very narrow between the switches. I have to take almost all of the cotton off of Q-Tips to get it to go between the wafers and the next wafer/switch. I'm not really sure that it has been cleaned properly, but i think that I have.
I tried to remove the response switch to get a better angle to clean it. The nut that holds it to the Bracked set back from the main chassis front is resessed about an inch. The access hole in the front panel is too small to allow a 5/8 inch deep socket in to remove the nut holding the switch in place.
I'm starting to go on circles. My main question is, is there anything that can cause this problem beside the Response rotary switch? If, not, is there an easy way to clean the switch beside soaking the complete wafer with Deoxit?
I feel great asking this group for advicxe. The knowledge pool is very deep.
Thank you,
