Subject: [Hallicrafters] SX-115/HT32 VFO Dead

Gents,
The VFO on my SX 115 was inoperative when I applied power after a few weeks
of inactivity. The VFO is very similar to that in the HT-32 series.
I removed the bottom VFO shield. All voltages are correct at the 6CB6 pins.
I checked with a Hi Z scope - no oscillation of the circuit - it's not one
of the buffering components. I replaced the tube with a fresh one - no joy.
There is no evidence of anyone having made repairs/mods under the shield.
The main tuning caps were cleaned and De0xited a few years ago - there is no
obvious debris or other shorts visible.
I suspect one of the caps has gone bad - such as one of the temp
compensation caps.
Has anyone had a similar problem in the past and found a solution? I hate
to disturb the wiring in this area needlessly but will do the surgery if it
is required.
73,
Rocco N6KN
