[Hallicrafters] HT-37 Alignment Question

Has anyone found any significant discrepancies (or incorrect instructions) in the alignment instructions found in the factory ops/service manual for the HT-37?

I'm having trouble aligning the 1st mixer stage circuit. 2nd mixer and driver stage alignment went great. All coils and trimmers peaked nicely on my HP-410B VTVM.

The problem is that for the 1st mixer stage alignment, no amount of adjusting the driver tuning control (Section 8-5-2-1, step #5) will peak the VTVM as it says it should, making adjusting of coil L23 impossible.

Any troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  You'll help me stop pulling what's left of my hair out, hi, hi.  Thanks, Bill, ab0zz at arrl.net
