Hello Yves (a familiar denizen of Collins circles),
The noise that's attenuated by this antenna (when grounded properly) is the
household and local electromagnetic trash from televisions, light dimmers,
computers and monitors, nearby power lines, etc. This effect is especially
noticeable on the lower bands up to about 60 meters. It doesn't lessen
atmospheric noise.
Also, being a broadband antenna, it doesn't discriminate against
off-frequency, high energy RF sources. I live within a half mile of a 50KW
broadcast transmitter at 1500 Khz. Without an antenna tuner or (as I use) a
highly effective low pass filter (that I can switch in and out of the
antenna line), the harmonics of this transmitter's signal cause great havoc
in my receivers when used with a broadband antenna.

Craig
