[Hallicrafters] CW Pitch Control assembly fixed.

    Earlier I asked the forum if there was a spare "CW Pitch Control" 
assembly for my SX-71 which had been broken off in moving the receiver. 
  Someone had tried gluing the front part of the screw onto the back 
part with the slug.  The glue got into the threads and glued them 
together besides not working.  I got a response for both a NOS and a 
used assembly but with the aid of a machinist friend repaired the 
broken assembly.
     By using heat I was able to get the glue to soften and I was able 
to back the slug out.  Using a lathe, we were able to turn down one 
part of the screw and drill the other part so that they fit together in 
a sleeve fashion after which we soldered the two together after 
carefully matching up the threads - pretty delicate work joining the 
two 8-32 screw parts together.  It is about 1/8 in. shorter now but 
works good.  I think the repair worked because there was backup 
position of a spare part availability and I wasn't hesitant to try.
