The old Heathkit QF-1 "Q-multiplier" was used on a lot
of Hallicrafters S-85 and SX-99 units during the 1950s
and well into the 1960s. The SX-110 is nothing more
than a "reboxed" SX-99.
I had a QF-1 on my original S-85 and it worked great.
There was a modification in the ARRL Hints & Kinks
books back during the late 1950s and early 1960s that
changed the "broad" tuning range of the QF-1 into a
variable bandpass filter. I did that on my QF-1 and
that really added to its usefulness.
