Thanks guys
I opened t3 and found two 52pf caps which were not on the schematic ,one was 
leaky the other ok. I replaced them with two 56pf which I had .
Now for the test, I fed the plate lead with 455kc(10k ohm r in series) and 
voila a nice peak on the scope with start of attenuation +/- 2 kc---extra GRIN..
I guess I'll check the xtal and other if's.
